We have had reports that Waitrose used to order 45 cases of plastic bags each time they ordered and now, thanks to you all bringing your own bags, they only order 8 for the same time period.

Lets see if we can halve that number again by Christmas……!

Well done to all Waitrose shoppers that have made this possible, and in case the Sainsburys shoppers are feeling left out, we know they have had huge reductions in their bag orders too, we don’t know the exact figures, but the quantity of 2/3rds less has been mentioned.

Keep carrying your own bags, folks, it’s working!

Big thanks to everyone who came and saw us on Saturday, bought a bag, had a go on the Tombola and generally supported the launch. It was a fabulous day, the weather was amazing and we all had a great time.

My favourite part of the day? The Town Crier walking up and down the High Street, crying about the launch and handing out free cloth bags to passers-by, wonderful!

This Saturday, 20th Sept, is the big phase 1 launch day, so come and see us on our stall in Market Square. We will be giving advice on composting, running a tombola (with mostly Fairtrade and organic prizes) and in Blue Haze there will be a frenzy of bag-making which we will be giving away FREE!!

But most exciting of all, we will be launching the new Chesham town cotton bag (fairtrade and organic cotton of course!), which we think is both stylish and practical.
